Anyways, we are here to bring yet another update. Actually this time we have THREE updates. First off we'd like to mention the Facebook Fan Page. Although it's still great, it seems our recruiting rate has severely decreased! Right now we have 133 fans, though, and that is still something to be proud of.
Another update: I FINALLY HAVE ALL OF THE FOOTAGE ON ONE HARD DRIVE HERE ON CAMPUS! Though some of you may not find that update as interesting, it is extremely important in the post-production phase. Before, I had half of the footage we had filmed on my external drive here at school, and the other half of it stored on a different hard drive back home. This obviously made it incredibly hard to edit the movie as a whole. In short: editing will commence at a much faster rate now!
The third update isn't as much an update as it is a reminder about the "Jimmy Rap." As we have announced previously, we will release the Jimmy Rap once the Facebook Fan Page reaches 150 fans. Saying that right now we're at 133, that goal isn't that far off. To be honest, the editing for the video isn't complete yet, but I will try everything I know how to get it done by the 150-fan-mark! All that's left is for you guys to INVITE INVITE INVITE!
Also if you guys were wondering where the "Island Wars Awkward Moment" was this week, we decided to wait until this Sunday to release the next installment. Plus, we just finished a new trailer for you guys anyway, so don't be complainin'! We'll have more info for you guys soon!

WE HAVE REACHED 100 FANS ON THE ISLAND WARS FACEBOOK FAN PAGE! WOOHOO! This actually happened last week, but we haven't updated the blog since then. As of this writing, the Island Wars page has 113 fans. We cannot thank you guys enough for the support! Honestly if it wasn't for the show of support or fans asking us constantly "when is it coming out? We must see it!" we probably wouldn't have kept it up. We told you guys we'd do something cool for the 100-fan-mark, and we did! As those of you following the Facebook page already know, we released a NEW Island Wars trailer. This is pretty big, saying there was only one trailer and one teaser out before now. Truth be told, though, this it's much more like an extended "Island Wars Awkward Moment" video (which is not a bad thing at all). We saw the success of the "Awkward Moment" videos and translated it into a trailer! So enjoy the trailer below! (video below)
Second to note is that we came out with a NEW "Island Wars Awkward Moment" video. Well, okay, most of you have probably already seen it since we made a big deal of it on the fan page, but it is there nonetheless! We have decided to post these weekly every Sunday, so mark your calendar! This awkward moment features the wonderful acting of guest star Brody Barrett, who plays a newscaster named Boo Ryan (obviously nothing like the famous northern Virginia weatherman BOB Ryan!). It's just a tiny clip from a much longer scene featuring (in our opinion) one of the funniest parts of the entire movie. (video below)
The reason we didn't release a new "Awkward Moment" video yesterday was because we released a new trailer instead, and we didn't want to steal the heat from either of them. Thus, the new "Awkward Moment" video will be released this Wednesday (two days from now, for those who calendarily-challenged).
Though it isn't related to Island Wars at all, we came out with a random video on our YouTube page called "Man Thinks He's Taylor Swift." The man is Jimmy, and the video is of his best rendition of "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift. While it's not Island Wars, it's still Umbrellaman, and most people who have seen it say it's funny. (video below)
Well, enjoy the new videos and new info! Oh, and as always there IS MORE COMING SOON! Remember to become a fan on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube channel for even more cool awesome radical snaztastic stuff.

First off, we have begun a new weekly video series on YouTube of "Awkward Moments" from Island Wars. They're just short little clips of things that (in some cases taken out of context) just seem funny and/or awkward. Believe me, there are PLENTY, and we hope to keep this series up until the film releases on... wait a second! There's still more information before you get to figure out the release date! But seriously, go watch it, rate it, and comment on it! Oh and while you're there click the "Subscribe" button on the video description. The video itself is below.
Second, we FINALLY have got the Facebook "Fan Page" up and running for Island Wars earlier today. Go on the page and click "Become a Fan" and any status updates or new info can be shown on your homepage just like any of your friends' status updates! I invited a bunch of people, but we need everyone to also invite their friends. There is a Fan Page Box below, which shows live updates from the fan page.
Let's get the word out about Island Wars and expand the fan base! We only have until the film releases in... well I suppose it's finally time for the tentative release date to be revealed. You all HAVE waited long enough, and have even had to read this entire post. Thus, (drum roll please!)
Island Wars will be released this winter break! Woohoo! We think it seems like the best time to release it. It will give us time to work out any of the kinks in production, and many of the fans who are looking forward to it will be home from college by then. Don't worry, we plan to show it more than once, and hopefully produce DVD's for people to take with them. Along with this we hope to also release the film online after it's first few airings, though we are still looking for the best way to do this. More info will be coming soon, so STAY TUNED!
(PS the "Facebook Fan Box" shown in this post is also permanently at the very bottom of this page, and there is also a constant "Twitter Updates" feed on the top left of this page. Once again, become a fan on Facebook and follow us on Twitter!)

This is what some of you may be thinking right now. But since you thought it would be too awkward to start talking to your computer screen, I took the liberty of writing down exactly what your mind was thinking. Now if the above is indeed what you were thinking, then give yourself a pat on the back! You are now officially labeled a fool!
Honestly, why on earth would we spend so much time and effort filming, editing, getting the word out, writing scripts, and even getting in the school newspaper just to give up on it?? This is why you are a fool, and why you fail at being you.
Ahem, now that the formalities are out of the way we can start talking about the movie updates! For those of you who have been following our progress, obviously the movie did not come out of the initial release date. We apologize to those of you who have been repeatedly asking us about the movie. The simple answer is: it wasn't finished and we wanted to make it good! Now if you're looking for a complicated answer, well... there isn't one, but I could make one up for you if you want!
The point of this post is to let you all know that there is going to be some BIG Island Wars information coming soon. And I'm not just talking blog post big, I'm talking possibly-NEW-TRAILER-with-OFFICIAL-RELEASE-DATE big! Yes, we will be announcing the release date soon, and we are taking into account that many of our followers are leaving to go off to college or just go back to school in general. Don't worry, we have some super-awesome amazingly cool plan that everyone will like... hopefully! Oh, and the official Jimmy Rap music video will be released soon on our YouTube Channel to help promote the movie, so keep watching for that! Follow this blog on Facebook, and subscribe to us on YouTube for updates and new videos! (you can also do some random "Google Friend Connect" thing if you also have a blog, it's on the left-hand side of this page)
Keep watching for updates!
(Below are two poor-quality images I took while editing! Enjoy!)

Well you can watch it below, or go check it out here. It's called "Island Wars: Behind the Scenes #3 (Blooper Reel A)." it has a bunch of bloopers from the early filming of the movie, along with some other random bits thrown in. It even has an early test title for Island Wars at the beginning! The music is from the new Star Trek movie and from LOST Season 4, in case anyone wanted to know.

If you haven't heard the rap yet, head on over to our Myspace and check out a demo version sung by me. The final version with Jimmy's vocals will be released soon, along with the finalized "music video" for the song as a sort-of pre-release special. I won't delve too much into the music, as that's Will's area of specialty, and he'll probably put up a post on it soon. But some pointless back story won't hurt, will it?
The song itself was written almost a year ago. While almost every song in the movie was written by me and Will together, this one just happened to have been written by me one night at around midnight. I really have no idea where the inspiration came from. The music itself wasn't made until a few days later, when I sat down with FL Studio for around four hours and made what you now hear on the Myspace.
Since then the music has been spiced up quite a bit by Will and Jimmy's vocals have been added in. Surprisingly, the song has become kinda like a cult-classic. And now that we have finally finished the filming of the video for it, hopefully it will become a viral-hit!
Well I won't go on anymore about the music, as Will may grace you all with a special look at the actual song soon. Suffice to say, it will be quite a... treat. The only other song so far not written by both of us is the song Jimmy sings later in the movie entitled "Gala." It is also on the Myspace! It was written by Sir Will.
In other news, filming is going quicker than ever now that school sports are over, and I'm gonna start the official editing of the film once all the videos are transferred to my computer.

So where did we leave off... Well in the last post we discussed the first day. Now, obviously, onto Day Two!
Well we didn't actually do anything until around 4:30. We headed on over to Josh's house to finish up filming the trekking scenes. Oh, and Josh was having a youth party at his house, so once again we got to eat a lot before we went out to film. So then we grabbed our camera, some spray paint, and a hoe, then went out to film!
Since we lost our other gun, we spray painted Will's other airsoft. The scenery was great, and the filming even better in the perfect light! We even got to walk across a sweet fallen tree!
The trekking scene is gonna be really cool for the movie! I would show you some more screen shots from the actual footage, but why ruin it!? We also had a short fist fight scene between me and Will! Don't worry, there will be a behind the scenes video of what else occurred soon enough!
Well the next post will deal with the infamous "Jimmy Rap!" You all have heard the song (hopefully)! If not, go hear the test version sung by me on our myspace! The final version sung by Jimmy himself, along with the final music video shown in the movie will be released soon as a sort-of behind the scenes preview feature, but you'll get the first info here on the blog! Stay tuned!

We have a few scenes in the movie of what we like to call "trekking." It is simply where we are trying to get to some place and have us climbing or hiking through vast epic scenery to get to our destination. Get to where? Wouldn't you like to know!
So we started off the Saturday filming by heading on over to Will's house! Before we went out, though, we decided it would be a splendid idea to go to a spaghetti dinner at the firehouse and play with the new Nintendo DSi's camera!
Needless to say, we had a BLAST! Afterward, we went back to Will's and got our spy gear on.
To make a long story short, the scenery was epic and the filming went great! In fact, it looked so good, we even got this new promo shot!
After it got too dark to film and we were too tired to go on, we decided to head back to my house. But not before we went to 7/11 and got some Slurpees!
Later we went back to my house to film the Jimmy Rap in front of the green screen. But that is another post for another time...

For the scene Billy Bacci played Gandalf, John Smith played Superman, Melissa Modolo played Laura Croft (Tomb Raider), Eliseo Perez played Jesus, and Bryce Wiley played well... Bryce the Stand-Up Comedian!
I am actually going to put up some pics of everyone in costume, but we haven't uploaded that segment to my computer yet. So expect another post soon with more pictures! But onto the original reason for this post!
As some of you may have already seen from either the Facebook Group or my Island Wars Album, we have been working on Island Wars promo pics to let people know about the movie. So far we think they have turned out pretty sweet, but we thought we would let you all take a look anyway!
But don't worry! There are more promo pics to come! I am trying to find my SD Card so I can finish Eliseo's as I type this. Eliseo plays Commander Horace Goodwin in the movie, who is one of Jimmy's top henchmen in the alternate dimension. I am also wondering whether I should make a promo pic for some of the extras, simply because some of them looked awesome. The Gandalf costume we made Billy wear, for instance, was quite hilarious! If any of you extras want a pic, I'd be happy to make one for you! Just send me a message or something.
But this post is WAYYY too long already! So to make a long story short: there are new promo pics for the movie, the filming is coming along nicely, and I can't think of a third thing. Oh! And there may be Island Wars shirts coming, so watch for those! We'll keep on filmin'!

It tends to get a little crazy on set, and we end up saying some incredibly retarded things occasionally (especially Jimmy). Here's a little peek at the craziness that goes on while we're filming!
Monday, March 23, 2009
This clip was actually not supposed to be released so early in the filming process, but through a long line of unusual events *cough* Jimmy putting it on Facebook *cough* the video was released. Since there was such great feedback for the clip, (and the fact that it has over 600 views on YouTube) we decided to keep the clip up online. (Just kidding, Jimmy, we love you)
The car chase has come along way from this clip, with further editing and sound changes and even new footage. The car chase now also includes a chase on foot, a back story, an explosion, more guns, and even more epic Bourne music! But for now, enjoy the partly edited version below!
Check back soon for more Island Wars updates, info, videos, posts, and more!

Well 25 of you voted, and it looks like we will be making at least a few Island Wars shirts!
16 of you (64%)picked the top choice "I would totally get one!"
7 of you (24%) chose "I would like it!"
2 of you (8%) chose "I might get one..."
And thankfully, no one picked the bottom choice "Eh... maybe not."
What will the shirts be? Who knows! We'll prob start working on them and unveil them closer to the movie's release date in late June or early July. *finger's crossed*
The poll can still be viewed at the top left of the page, though it is closed.

Thus, we actually drove around completely lost for over an hour, and even tried calling people for directions! We actually filmed a bit of the ordeal, and it might end up in a future "Behind the Scenes" segment.
Thankfully, we finally found our way! Too bad by that time it wasn't bright enough to film anything, it was raining, and on top of that our camera was out of battery. Yes, this was a very poorly planned trip. At least our digital camera we brought still had battery life, which we put to good use by taking some random pictures along the trail. This is a picture of Will being very excited when it was mentioned that we should be safe while running down the trail:
So we just hiked around the mountain, scouting out places for future filming, and discussing where the story would go once we got to this part of filming. We even took some pictures of possible locales which we can build parts of the script around.
Sometime soon we'll go back up there and start the filming for the scene. What scene, you ask? Well... it wouldn't be very special if we just told everyone! But I can tell you that it involves some minor special effects and it is the start of a long journey me and Will must take! We'll be posting more updates soon! Keep watching for perhaps some big scoops, and maybe even a new trailer!
PS - While there aren't any scenes like this in the movie, this is still a cool picture taken on the trail:

Wednesday, March 11, 2009
Well lately I've been working on a scene we filmed a bit ago where we travel out onto a frozen lake/river. Why? Well... because we need to get to the other side, and there's no way around, of course! It's actually a very complex scene that will include explosions, graphic water, monsters, and more! And the funny thing is, that's not even a joke.
Well the first thing I had to do was edit a short clip of us walking over a hill. It looked good, but needed an arctic/other-worldly feel to it (as we aren't on earth in this scene). So I added in a cool aurora-light type of feature that didn't fit exactly with the real northern lights, but did have enough comparison to be recognizable (click for larger view).
So after some tweaking in particleIllusion, I imported it over to After Effects, where I tracked the camera and set it in the right plac so it would "stick" to the shot. It actually looks really cool in motion!
The next thing I did for the scene was some video/picture editing. In the original shot, me and Will walk over the hill, and the next shot is of us from behind looking out at the lake, talking about how there is "no way around for miles," and we'll have to cross. Now as you can see, in the original shot, you could clearly see a road even going up into the forest. Obviously this could not do!
So I had to take a frame and go to work on it in good ol' Photoshop! Eventually, I was able to edit-out the road, even into the trees, and extend the lake. I then exported the image back to After Effects, where it was motion tracked onto the layer, which you can see below.
As you can see, it turned out very well, especially saying it was taken with some jerky camera movements!
If some of this was over your heads, I apologize. This is only the first post, and I know there are many non-video-gurus out there who have no idea what I'm talking about with some of the above. Not to fear, just know the movie will look great!
In the mean time, I'm currently working on the next part of the ice scene, where the explosions and monster come into play, but that post will have to wait! Look forward to Island Wars, coming this June!
